TEXTS: Mal3:1-10, Eccl5:4, Exd34:26, Lev22:17-20
Memory Verse: ": Bring you all the tithes into the store house that there may be meat in mine house, and Prove me now herewith says the Lord of hosts if I will not OPEN YOU the windows of heaven, and POUR YOU out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Mal3:10."
INTRODUCTION:
Seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness affects every area of our lives. It demands that we place God and His interests and requirements first even in areas such sacrifices, offering, tithes & vows unto Him; it is important however to note that we are not to do these things any how but in a way acceptable unto Him, using the right kind of heart, zeal and time.
Study:
TITHES:
- A. Tithe is ten percent of your total daily, weekly, monthly or annual in come.
- B.Abraham Paid tithe to Melchizedek the High Priest of God and the King of Salem before the Law came into existence Gen14:18-20
- C. God commanded the children of Israel to pay tithe. Mal.3:10, lev.27:30-33
- D.Jesus commanded tithe payment in the New Testament Matt 23:23
- E.We are to bring the WHOLE tithe not part or half of it.Mal3:10
- F.We are to bring it into the store house of God which is the local church from where we feed spiritually.
- G.The purpose of tithe is that there may be meat or food in God¡¯s house
THE BENEFITS OF PAYING TITHES
- A. God will "OPEN YOU UP" the windows in heaven, and POUR YOU OUT a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it Mal.3:10b
- B.God will rebuke the devourer for your sakes so he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field Mal 3:11
- C.All the nations shall call you blessed: for you shall be a delightsome land.
CONCLUSION:
Tithe paying is a commandment from God and therefore can not be negotiated but must be obeyed by every child of God. We should understand that we are not bringing our whole tithes into the house of God to feed Him; after all the cattle upon a thousand hills belong to Him Ps 50:10. If He needs food or meat, He wouldn¡¯t border us at all ¡but it is all about absolute obedience to God¡¯s command which is after all for our own good and prosperity. In our next lesson we are going to look at other areas of giving in the house of God.
