FOCUS
GIVING (OFFERINGS, VOWS)
TEXTS: Mal3:1-10, Exd34:26, Lev22:17-20
Memory Verse: "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools; pay that which thou hast vowed. Eccl5:4(KJV)"
INTRODUCTION:
In our last lesson on giving we focused on tithing; today we are going to consider other areas of giving in the house of God, such as vows/donations, free will offerings, thanksgiving offering, Miracle seed offering and first fruits offering.
Study:
- VOWS are pledges or promises made to God at a solemn moment in one¡¯s life.
Consider the following scriptures; Eccl5:4-5, Num30:2, Deut23:21-23, Ps50:14, Ps66:13-4, Ps76:11
- FREE WILL OFFERING:
1Cor16:2, Deut16:10, 2Cor9:7-8
- THANKSGIVING OFFERING:
Ps107:22, Ps116:17, Amos4:5, Gen33:11
- MIRACLE SEED OFFERING:
Eccl7:6, 2Cor9:6, 1Cor15:36-38, Ps126:5
- FIRST FRUITS OFFERING: Deut26:2, Deut18:4, Exd22:29; Num18:12
THE SPIRIT OF GIVING:
Exd25:2, 35:5, Deut15:7, Prov.11:25, Rom12:18, 2Cor8:12, 2Cor9:6-7, Phil4:18
CONCLUSION:
God loves and demands the best in our giving to Him; since He gives us the best of the Land (Isa1:19) and is the giver of all good and perfect gifts James1:17, He deserves the best in return. He can not accept just any Kind of gifts, sacrifices or offering from us. Remember how he had respect for Abel¡¯s offering and accepted it and how He rejected that of Cain his brother. Consider also David in 1Chron.21:24 who said to Ornan, that he would not¡offer burnt offerings to the Lord that cost him nothing.¡± If God is not interested in our offerings, Jesus wouldn¡¯t have taken time to carefully look into the offering box to know how much each person has given and He wouldn¡¯t have commented on it. MK12: 41-44.Therefore our attitude to giving God should Change from today.
May God help us in Jesus name Amen!
