OBEDIENCE III
TEXT:
Exodus 23:20-26
Memory Verse: "If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and oppose those who oppose you. Exodus 23:22(NIV)"
INTRODUCTION:
In our last week¡¯s lesson, we learned that willingness and obedience entitle a child of God to eat the best of the land. We also answered such questions as: How are we supposed to obey? In how many things are we supposed to obey and submit to God¡¯s word and the authority He places over us? In today¡¯s lesson which is the last on this three part series, we are going to look further at the benefits of absolute obedience.
Note:
In Ex. 23:20-23, God sent His Angel ahead of the children of
Israel to guard them along the way and to bring them to the
place He prepared for them.
What matters to us in this place is not the name of the Angel,( as many theologians and bible scholars have different opinions and suggestions as to who he was and who he was not), but the fact that he was an Angel from God, a messenger from God with His instructions and directions for the children of Israel .The word of God is in his mouth, If you see him you have see God, if you hear him you have heard God, If you follow him you are following God but if you rebel and disobey him, you have done so to God and so God emphatically warned that they should pay attention to what the angel says and that if they rebel against him, he will not forgive their rebellion, since he has the name of God is in him.
Study:
- What do you understand by the Promise of God in VS 22?
If you are living a life of obedience you have no worries at all because He fights your battles 2Chronicles 20:15-23.
- How soon should we obey? Gen 21:12-14. Gen 22:1-3
CONCLUSION:
Angels are still on assignment today. They guard and protect you daily. Though you might not have seen or heard one physically, but there are Angels that you can always see and hear from the pulpits. They are your spiritual shepherds and parents in the Lord that labor on your behalf day and night to nourish your Soul. Heb 13:17.
If you listen carefully and obey all that God says to you through them, He has promised to be an enemy to your enemies and oppose those who oppose you. May God help us to understand this spiritual truth?
May God help us in Jesus name Amen!
