INTRODUCTION:
The Christian Fellowship of the early church was known for its characteristic life of giving. The brethren gave in various ways and at various times of need and urgency. Rich Churches made contributions or collections for poor churches. See Rm .15:25-26, Acts 11:29, 1 Cor. 16:1, 3-4, 2Cor 9:1.
Some churches sponsored apostolic missionary works from one place to another. Philp. 14-15, Rm 15:28, 2Cor 11:8-9, Acts 24:17. While others shared with and ministered to those in affliction, chain or prison with substances 2Tim 1:8, Heb. 13:3 and prayers Rm 15:30-31, 2Cor 1:11, Col 4:12.
All these were motivated by genuine and sincere love in their heart for God, the Church and the brotherhood in Christ. The Church / Fellowship of believers today has a lot to learn from and imitate the church /fellowship of early believers even though certain events, circumstances and environment might be slightly different from what we have today, but the general duty and responsibility remain scripturally the same.
