INTRODUCTION:
Brotherly kindness is defined by Adams Clarke¡¯s commentary as love of the brotherhood ¨C the strongest attachment to Christ¡¯s flock; feeling each as a member of your own body. We see a similar expression in Heb 13:1 ¡°Let brotherly love continue¡±. This statement implies that this virtue was already in existence among them and that it should not be allowed to stop. It is love, care and affection shown to members of the same house hold of faith i.e. Christians to Christians. Jn13:34-35 call it a new commandment by which all men shall know that we Christians are Christ¡¯s disciples if we keep it. It is called new because never before had such commandment been given to any class or body of men by which they had been known and distinguished. In this world people are known and distinguished by their nationality, colour, rank office, sect, wealth, learning, fame or earthly honours; peculiar style of dress or badge but as Christians who are on one level, with common desires and wants; redeemed by the same sacred blood, and going to the same heaven; we are to be distinguished by tender and constant attachment to each other. We are to be friend each other in trials; be careful of each other¡¯s feelings and reputation; deny ourselves to promote each other¡¯s welfare. It is also called a new commandment in regard to the extent to which it is to be carried ¡°As I have loved you, that you also love one another¡±Jn13:34. In 1Jn 3:16, the bible says that ¡°We ought also to lay down our lives for the brethren¡± This is a new expression of love and it shows the strength
of attachment which we ought to have for Christians, and how ready we should be to endure hardships , to encounter dangers, and to practise self-denial to benefit the brethren.

CONCLUSION:
Brotherly kindness or love is the Christian brethren¡¯s trade mark. This is the love with which Jesus loves us. We are to continue this love. Each of us should love all the others as fellow heirs with him to the great inheritance above. May God help us to add this great grace and virtue to our faith in Jesus¡¯ name, Amen!
