    TEXT: Col 2:6, 2Pet 3:18

    Memory Verse:
"But now grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever more. Amen 2Pet 3:18(NKJV)"

    INTRODUCTION:
When you have led a soul to Christ your responsibility does not end. You have a spiritual baby and that baby needs help if it is to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. A spiritual baby understands, thinks, reacts and behaves like a baby. It opens mouth to consume what ever is brought near to it without knowing whether it is good or bad for health. Therefore it needs parental care and guidance. As a sheep it needs a shepherd who has vast understanding of its needs and how to feed and nourish it.

    Study:
  • The first thing therefore, which you are recommended to do after you¡¯ve led a soul to Christ is to take them to any Bible believing Church around where they live or ask them to go to the Church with you every week if you are living in the same locality. Here they will not only find a shepherd but a new family and community of believers and loved ones in Christ for spiritual sharpening even as iron sharpens iron Prov.27 :17
  • It is the duty of the Church to develop a very rich follow-up program aimed at making them established in the faith which is to be rooted and grounded in God¡¯s word, but in addition to that, as an instrument God used in bringing them to His Knowledge, you are also expected to monitor their spiritual progress by making sure:
  • They don¡¯t neglect or forsake the assembling together of God¡¯s people as it is the attitude of some brethren .Heb. 10:25
  • They continue to desire the sincere milk of God¡¯s word so they would grow thereby. You can give them some daily bible reading guides and always ask if they read them.
  • They know who they are now in Christ; so they can have boldness to stand against satanic accusations and condemnation 2Cor.5:17, Rm8:1
  • They develop intimate relationship with the Lord through prayer and meditation and to learn how to forgive others their sins.

    CONCLUSION:
You should not use the opportunity for personal follow-up to sway the attention of the new believer from the Lord Jesus to your self, your personal interests or your future plans. You must be sincere in other to feed them with the sincere milk of the word of God.
May the Lord help us to be his obedient children in Jesus name. Amen?
