INTRODUCTION:
Personal evangelism is an individual¡¯s effort of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ with the sole aim of winning lost souls back to the Kingdom of God. Soul winning is the greatest work a child of God can ever involve in because it is the most rewarding enterprise of all undertakings. However, winning a soul effectively to Christ is more than just calling a person to attend church services or convincing an individual that Christianity is a good religion. It is rather taking men out of the hands of the enemy, out of bondage, darkness, failures and weakness and giving them freedom, light, joy, success and strength. It is in fact, turning those who are reached from sin unto righteousness and holiness. Today the Lord is restoring the love for souls into the church but it is only those believers whose hearts are touched that catch the fire for evangelism while some remain cold and others lukewarm. As we examine personal evangelism in today¡¯s study as your responsibility, we pray that the Lord will help you to understand both the need and urgency in Jesus¡¯ name Amen!

Jesus main mission was to save sinners. He was the greatest soul winner the word has ever known (Mt.1:21, Lk.19:10, ITim.1:15) Jesus lived, died and rose again for this sole purpose and for this purpose he sent back the Holy Ghost to His followers (ACTs1:8)
- THE HARVEST IS SO GREAT YET THE LABOURER ARE FEW (Mt.9:37; Lk.10:2)
Christ had compassion on the teaming multitude because he saw them" as sheep having no shepherd.¡± The number of people on the way/wide gate that leads to hell is alarming. Every minute while we may be engaging in idle talking 77 souls slip into eternity most of them Christless.The world¡¯s population is increasing by more than 60 million people every year, yet far less than that are redeemed from death to life by the blood of Jesus.
- THE GREAT COMMISSION IS A COMMAND (Mk.16:15).
It is a command given by our Master Jesus Christ which we should obey as Christians.
- a. It is the first assignment he gave to his disciples (Mt.mlt4:19, Mt.10:5-7)
- b.It is the last a assignment Jesus gave Mt.28:19, Mk.16:15
- c.The early Christians understood the task and obeyed it fully Acts5:42, Acts.20:20
- THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST IS DEPENDENT ON IT.
In Mt.24:14 Christ gave a prophecy which has to be fulfilled before His 2nd coming. In Rev, 7:9-10, John saw the multitude of the redeemed of All Nations, gathered to worship before the throne. If Christ returned today, this scene would not be as John saw it .What are you doing about it?
- SO THAT THE BLOOD OF SINNERS WOULD NOT BE DEMANDED AT YOUR HANDS:
If there is a bible passage that should frighten you it is Ezk.3:17-20, 33:7-9.If you know and believe that God does not change (Mal 3:6), that he is a consuming fire (Heb.12:29) and that he is faithful to his word (Isa. 55:11), then you should strive to avoid the blood of sinners being required at your hands.
CONCLUSION:
God, as well as humanity is in need of faithful soul winners.Isa.6:8;
Ezek.22:30, 31.Will you be one? The early believers served their own
generation by bringing them to the knowledge of God.
They cannot serve this generation of yours and mine because they are gone.
We owe God and our generation the duty to bring them to the knowledge
of God. If you don¡¯'t who will? Do you know that "she that lived in
pleasure is dead while she lives" Are you ready to throw what ever is
your hindrance(love of your life above God, your reputation,possessions,etc.)
and then begin to win souls for the Saviour? Remember:The fruit of the
righteous is a tree of life. And he that wins a soul is wise (Proverbs 11:30)!!
May the Lord help us to be his obedient
children in Jesus name. Amen?
