Theme:WALKING BY THE SAME RULE, BEING OF THE SAME MIND I
__________________________________________
TEXT:
Phil 3:1-16, Gal 6:16
Memory Verse:
Nevertheless, to the extent that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind Philippians 3:16(WEB)
INTRODUCTION:
The Christian man is like a runner who started off and has run successfully half way by abiding by the rules of the game; for him to finish up the race and win, he has to continue to run by the same rule, being of the same mind and focus, with which he initially started.
As believers in Christ who walk by the doctrine or rule of faith in Christ, love for God, love for the brethren, and all mankind, and the hope of eternal glory; we do make daily spiritual progress and attainments. However, it is necessary that we continue to make these daily progress and attainments, or else we will lose the ground we have already gained. The only way of doing this is by making sure we continue to walk by the same rules and doctrines of pure and undiluted word of God, and being of the same mind and focus; walking in the spirit and not after the flesh; like the runner we are to continually keep in view the white lines we are not supposed to cross until we finish the race. 1Cor 9:24
Study:
- 1.To walk by the same rule means to walk by the same standard set for us by God¡¯s word in everything. It is to abide by the same instructions, admonitions, corrections, reproofs, and training in righteousness that we receive daily, and to continue to be thoroughly equipped by them to do every good work. Tim 3:16
- 2. Why is it important that we continue to walk by the same rule? Refer to Gal 3:1-3, Gal 5:7-9,Gal 1:6,Gal 5:1
- 3.Comment on Col 2:6-8, Gal 5:7
- 4.To be of the same mind is to have spiritual and physical agreement among ourselves. Amos 3:3
It is to be united in purpose and to focus on achieving it with perseverance and determination. Prov.11:14 15:22
It is be of the same mind with Christ Himself whose meat was to do his fathers will Jn4:32-34
It is to allow the mind of Christ be in us, that is the mind of humility and sacrifice.Phil2:2-8. What do you understand by the statements in Phil1:27, Phil 2:2
- 5.From the following scriptures enumerate the benefits of being of the same mind and the challenges they present to us Phil 2:2, Gal 6:16, 1Cor 1:10, Col 1:23, Philippians 1:27, Rm 12:16
CONCLUSION:
God hates inconsistency, it robs us of His blessings and brings spiritual set back to the believer. Jesus warned that no person who lays hand on the plough and looks back is fit for the Kingdom of God
LK9:62. If any man draws back, the Lord¡¯s soul shall have no pleasure in him Heb 10:38
We should be careful not to allow any one deceive us from following the truth Gal. 1:3
Remember that which was first delivered to us in the scriptures was that which was received from the Lord. 1 Cor 15:3. May the Lord strengthen our hearts and minds!
