THE WINNING MENTALITY
(Part 1)
et the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking
the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled
himself and became obedient to the point of death even death on a cross.
Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the
earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father. PHIL 2:5 (RSV)
Every child of God is on an assignment or a mission here on earth.
The life we have is not our own. It's like a borrowed tool which we have to return after
our day's job. We should understand that every person has a specific job description
or definition and a time limit which varies from person to person (for the bible says
in Ps31:15 that our times are in the hands of God.). As the Psalmist also prayed in Psalm
90:12 and said: “so teach us to number our days or our time limit, that we may apply wisdom
to our hearts".
If we understand the life we have now as a mission, it then means the earth is our mission
field where the mission must be accomplished. Sometimes, a mission encounters opposition,
resistance or attack and that is why there are spiritual battles we must fight and win every day.
If we must win our battles and accomplish our missions, we must have the mindset of Christ
Jesus our Lord who came down from heaven to earth and experienced life both as a mission and
a battle.
He engaged in His father’s work and accomplished it, fought the battle on the cross, and won,
defeated principalities and powers and triumphed over them and has retuned to share in the
glory of the trinity. He’s sitting at the right hand of Majesty interceding for us. He lives for
ever and ever and he’s coming back again as king of kings and Lord of Lords. Halleluiah!
This mindset of Christ is what I call THE WINNING MENTALITY. In Phil: 2:5 the bible says
"Let this mind be in you, that was in Christ Jesus.
HOW DO WE ALLOW THIS MIND BE IN US
- 1. We must first of all admit that the god of this world has blinded the minds of
unbelievers to keep the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God
from shinning upon them. So the first thing we must do is to receive Jesus, the light of
God into our hearts. 2Cor 4:4
- . We must admit that we now have the mind of Christ,
The same nature and quality as His 1Cor 2:16
- . But because we are still in the world and should not conform to it, mental warfare
rages on daily and the only divine prescription for our victory is MIND RENEWAL.Rom12:2.
Our thoughts and imaginations must be in line with His if we are going to make it and there
is no greater instrument for renewing the MIND than the word of God.
The bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Rom.10:17.The word of God which we read,
hear, and meditate upon on daily basis is able to flush out all negative imaginations and
filthiness of the mind leaving us with a new, flourishing and positive thought pattern.
- That is why the bible says in Phil: plans 4:8
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are
lovely, and whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and praise,
think about these things?
- It is only with this Christ mindset or winning mentality that we will not allow any
form of position, possession, and privilege right or opportunity we have in this world
to become an excuse for not accomplishing your divine assignment in the absolute will of God.
- With this winning mentality we will never idolize or hold any thing too tight but must
be willing to surrender all, on alter of sacrifice.
In vs 6-11 of Phil.2, the bible says “who being in the form of God did not count equality
with God! Something to be grasped but made himself of no reputation and took upon Him
the form of servant and was made in the likeness of men.
And being found in the fashion as a man, he humbled Himself and become obedient unto
death even the death on the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name that is above every
name that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow of things in heaven and things
in earth and things under the earth. And that every tongue must confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord.
- Heb.12; 2-3 says, looking unto Jesus the author and finish of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and
now is set at the right of the throne of God.
- Every winning mentality or mindset is humble and visionary in nature. He looks
ahead to something that is set before him, while here on earth he is already seeing
his mansions above, seeing his kingly robes and crowns, he is seeing himself taking
salute and inspecting a guard of honor as Jesus introduces him before the Angels and his father.
Because of this he is ready to cut off any hand, pluck out any eye that will not allow
him to enter into the kingdom of God.
