Theme:THE CHRISTIAN SOLDIER (2)
__________________________________________
Topic:
GOD IS OUR STRENGTH
AIM:
To make us understand how we can be strong in the Lord and His mighty
power by depending on Him for a daily supply of strength for our battles.
TEXTS: Eph6:10, 2Tim2:1, 3-4, 2Chr 15:7, Isa35:4, 2Sam22:33-51, 2Chr16:9
Memory Verse: "You armed me with strength for battle; you made my enemies bow at my feet. 2Samuel 22:40"
Romans 12: 11-12
INTRODUCTION:
The moment a sinner repents, accepts and confesses Christ as Lord
and Savior, he becomes automatically translated from the power of
darkness into the kingdom of His dear son: Col.1:13, He has been
called out of darkness into the marvelous light of God's
kingdom.1Pet2:9. Being a believer in Christ now, he is automatically
conscripted into the army of Christ to begin to fight a fight of faith,
1Tim.6:12, 2Tim.4:7 and to wage war against the satanic kingdom of darkness.
Eph6:10-13
If he must fight, he must be strong in the Lord and His mighty power,
that is to say he must be armed with strength and might from the Lord
Himself who is the strength of His people. The power and strength of an
earthly soldier might ebb and grow week but the strength of a Christian
soldier which is from the Lord is renewed daily in us as we come to Him.
Isaiah 40:29-31.
Study:
- How are we to be strong in the Lord and His mighty power? Eph6:10, 2Tim2:1
- Why should we be strong in the Lord and His might power? 2Chronicles15:7,1Sa 35:4
- Why are we not afraid of the battle? Isaiah 40:29, Ps27:16, Ps28:7, Ps46:1
- God has promised and His promise is sure. 1Sa 41:10-13, Jer1:18-19
CONCLUSION:
Strength and courage make a soldier. They are basically attitudes of the heart and not the products of size. A man may be diminutive in stature yet a giant in spirit or heart.
- As soldiers of Christ let us hear what 2Sam 10:12 says ˇ°be strong, and let us show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God; and may the Lord do what is good in His sight.ˇ± NAS
- Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.ˇ±Deut.31:6 NAS
- Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.ˇ±Joshua1:9 NAS
- Then David said to his son Solomon, ˇ°Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.1Chron.28:20 NAS
May God help us in Jesus name Amen!
