THE TRUTH
(the Girdle of our loins in spiritual warfare)
AIM:
To make us understand the importance of living and walking in the truth of God's word.
TEXTS: Eph6:14, Jn8:32, Eph4:14, Col 2:8, Jn14:6, Jn3:16
Memory Verse: "And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free Jn8:32"
INTRODUCTION:
Today we are going to discuss about the first defensive weapon of a
Christian soldier which is the girdle of truth. A soldier preparing for
combat may try to put on every different kind of attires but if he fails
to hold them firmly together with a belt or girdle, he is simply not yet
ready, and puts himself in a great danger should be thus go. The girdle or
belt worn by the ancient Roman and Greek soldiers was designed to keep
every part of the armour in its place and to gird the soldier on every side.
In the same way the truth of God and His word we know is designed to constantly
brace us up spiritually, standing firm in God¡¯s mission and purpose.
Study:
- The truth we know about spiritual warfare, those we are fighting with and their wiles will constantly preserve and keep our spiritual armour in their proper places in our lives.
- A soldier fights to secure, preserve for him and others, freedom and liberty, but there is no true freedom without the knowledge of the truth. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Jn8:32
- The truth is great and must prevail, we are to girt ourselves with it against all false religion, the various winds of doctrines and philosophies of men by which cunning men and insidious devils lie in wait to deceive.Eph4:14, Col2:8. Jesus is this great and prevailing truth. He said I am the way the truth and the life no body comes to God except by me¡no body comes to God except through the knowledge of him whom he has revealed to the world Jn14:6
- The gospel of Jesus Christ is the truth of God, unless we have known this and conscientiously believed it, we can not enter the spiritual warfare with any advantage or prospect of success: whosoever believes in Him (the truth) shall not perish in the batt
Let see other things God says about the truth:
- The God we serve is the God of Truth. Deut32:4
- He desires truth in the inward part of men. Ps51:6, Ps15:2
- His truth is the shield of His people. Ps91:4
- His truth endures forever. Ps117:2
- He wants us to buy the truth and sell it not. Prov23:23
- He hates those who are not valiant and zealous for the truth. Jer9:3
- He wants every man to speak truthfully to his neighbor zech8:16
- He wants us to be guided by the spirit of truth Jn16:13
- Every one that is of the truth hears His voice Jn18:37b
- He doesn¡¯t want us to hold the truth in unrighteousness. Rm1:18
- He wants us to be sincere and truthful in our communion with the brethren. 1Cor5:8
- We can do nothing against but for the truth. 2Cor13:8
- We are to speak the truth in love. Eph4:15
- We are to rightly divide the word of truth 2Tim2:15
- The church is the pillar and ground of truth 1Tim3:15
- We are to help and convert those who err from the truth James5:19
- We are to rejoice in the truth 1Cor13:6
- We are to show love in deed and truth 1Jn3:18-19
- Those who worship God must worship in spiritual Truth Jn4:24
CONCLUSION:
The greatest power on earth is the power of truth and the
greatest force on earth is the truth. Whether we like it or not
the bible has declared that we can do nothing against the truth
but for the truth 2Cor13:8. If we are to fight and win our spiritual
warfare we must be led by the spirit of truth in Christ Jesus.
In our next lesson we shall be discussing the next spiritual weapon of
our warfare.
