SEEKING FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD &HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (I)
TEXTS: MATTHEW 6:25-34
Memory Verse: "But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you Matthew 6:33(NKJV)."
INTRODUCTION:
He exercises absolute authority, Power and influence over all things and His will is absolutely done 2Cor12:2, Rv 4:1-11.
- The Kingdom of God:
This is that Kingdom which the God of heaven is erecting in this fallen world, It is in two parts; One part is already in existence which is made up of only those who according to Col1:11-13 have been delivered from the power of darkness and have been translated into the Kingdom of His dear son because they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord. This present Kingdom of God refers to God¡¯s dominion and ruler ship over a group of (Ecclesia) called out people, the Church, the body of Christ who believe in Him and accepts His ruler ship over them. They pray desire and seek always to do the will of God on earth as it is done in heaven. The other part of the Kingdom of God will be set up physically here on earth during the millennial reign of Christ with His saints for one thousand years.Dan7:27,Rev12:10
- The kingdom of God also refers to a domain ruled by Jehovah as king.
There is a sense in which God is King over all men and all creation
(including non-living things, the universe and Angelic and demonic beings).
This is irrespective of choice or will.
It includes both the voluntary and involuntary ruler ship of
God over all things.IS,45:23,Psalm95:3-5.Psalm 2:1-11,Daniel 4:17.
This aspect has been from the beginning, is operational in a sense now,
but will be fully manifest as it should be during the Millennial
reign of Christ on earth physically. Rev.20:4.
- THE KINGDOM'S RIGHTEOUSNESS:
The Greek word for righteousness means rightness, or straightness. The phrase
"all His righteousness" refers to the right, straight and acceptable ways and standard of doing things in the Kingdom of God in order to fulfill the righteous demands of God.
SEEKING FIRST THE KINGDOM: WHAT IT MEANS
God was before the beginning of time and eternity past Gen1:1.In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God Jn1:1.As the beginning of all beginnings He comes first and must receive priority attention in our lives.
Seeking first the kingdom and all its righteousness is the sum and substance of our whole duty. It is making the things of God¡¯s Kingdom our principle and great concern. We are to pursue and aim at the things of God¡¯s Kingdom more than our own things. We are to let all the concerns of this life be made subordinate to those of eternal life. We must desire to make rapture by living a holy and consecrated life to God. We are to dedicate the morning time of our youth to God; the bible tells to remember the Lord our God in the days of our youth. Eccl 12:1
Study:
- The Kingdom of God is not meat &drink but righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost Explain? Rm.14:17.
- The scepter of thy Kingdom is the right scepter or scepter of righteousness explain? Heb1:8
- Look up our main text and pick out what the Bible refers to as "these things".
- Are "these things" necessities or Luxuries¡± Explain your answer.
CONCLUSION:
God is the first; the thought of Him and His kingdom and all His righteousness suppose to take precedence above all other things. God has promised to add all we need to us if we put His interests first in our lives. In our next lesson we will be looking at how we are to seek first His kingdom and righteousness.
